Total Time 30 minutes mins
- ½ cup popcorn kernels
- ¼ cup red candy melts
- ¼ cup white candy melts
- ¼ cup blue candy melts
- ¼ cup red white and blue M&Ms
- 1 tablespoon patriotic sprinkles
Pop the popcorn and spread it onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Remove any unpopped kernels.
Melt the red, white, and blue candy melts in separate microwave-safe bowls, stirring until smooth.
Transfer each candy color to a piping bag or zip-top bag with a small corner snipped off.
Drizzle the candy over the popcorn, then immediately add the M&Ms and sprinkles while the candy is still glossy.
Let the candy harden at room temperature, or chill the baking sheet for about 10 minutes.
Break the popcorn into clusters and serve.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
- Air-popped popcorn gives the candy coating a clean surface to cling to.
- Have the sprinkles and M&Ms measured before melting the candy.
- The candy coating sets quickly, so decorate while it's still glossy.
- Change the candy colors and sprinkles for birthdays, holidays, or themed parties.
- Freezing isn't recommended since the popcorn may lose some of its crisp texture.
