Ingredients

  • 1 of cake mix (any flavor) + ingredients called for on the back of the box
  • ½ cup Betty Crocker frosting (any flavor)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • Sprinkles
  • Lollipop sticks

Instructions

  • Bake the cake according to package directions and let cool completely.
  • Crumble the cake into fine crumbs. Mix in frosting until the mixture holds together.
  • Roll into balls and place on a lined baking sheet. Chill for 30 to 60 minutes.
  • Melt the chocolate until smooth.
  • Insert sticks and dip cake balls into chocolate. Decorate with sprinkles.
  • Let set upright until firm.

Notes

  • Add the frosting gradually and stop once the cake mixture holds together. Too much frosting can make the cake pops soft or heavy.
  • Chill the cake balls for at least 30 minutes so they stay firm and are easier to dip.
  • Dip the end of each lollipop stick in melted chocolate before inserting it to help keep the cake pops in place.
  • Let the coating fully set before storing or serving. Cake pops can be made ahead, stored in an airtight container, or frozen once set.
